I Had Prostate Cancer and Had It Surgically Removed.
By: Otha R. Bagby
For the
last eight years I have always gotten yearly cancer tests, five years ago at my
wife’s behest, I join a free voluntary cancer program with The City of Hope Cancer Hospital in Azusa, California. One of The City of Hope Hospital’s protocols
is to perform yearly cancer tests on the volunteers of its cancer voluntary
programs. Once every year I would
receive a physical cancer exam and a “PSA” cancer blood test exam, My
physician, Doctor Laura Crocitto at The City of Hope Hospital started to
notice an unusual firmness in my prostate about three years ago which she made
written notes of the condition and she referred me to a Urologist for further
evaluation. At that time my blood’s PSA level was at 2.9, but she referred me
to an Urologist for a “Digital Rectal Exam.” Her direction to me was to “Go to
my regular physician and present him with the documents pertaining to my
situation,” which I did and immediately he was on top of my situation. Doctor
Robert Cann my primary care doctor inPasadena California ,“Inter Medicine,” who referred me
to a Urologist
Doctor David Rhodes of Foot Hill Urology inPasadena
California for a biopsy of my prostate
which tested positive for prostate cancer.
I enteredHuntington Hospital
on September 30, 2009 for surgery and the skillful hands of Doctor David
performed my prostate removal.
